- Larian Studios confirms that Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox will officially be released in December 2023.
- Larian Studios’ CEO Swen Vincke confirms that the Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox Series X and S version is currently being playtested.
- The studio will confirm its December release date by the end of this month.
Ever since Baldur’s Gate 3 was released in September this year, the gaming industry has been swept over by how amazing the game is. Its dense, sprawling world, interesting storyline, fantastic characters, deep Dungeons & Dragons gameplay system, and overall ambitious scope have made every player hail this game as one of the best RPG games ever made.
However, the game so far only has a PC version, which made console players lose some hope. But Larian Studios confirmed way back in July – a month before the game’s official release – that Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox will come out later this year.
The studio stated that after the September launch of the PC version, they will start working on the Xbox version, which they will release by the end of November.
However, the studio went radio silent with its development after the announcement. Everyone then thought that Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox was just a myth.
Latest on the Xbox – being actively playtested, still on schedule for this year. We'll announce the exact release date when we're sure it's done.— Swen Vincke @where? (@LarAtLarian) October 31, 2023
But Larian Studios’ CEO Swen Vincke recently tweeted that the development of Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox is indeed underway, with a confirmed December release date.
For Larian Studios, the main developmental hurdle so far has been the inclusion of split-screen co-op mode in the Xbox S version. However, Vincke has recently confirmed that split-screen won’t be available when Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox launches. Instead, it will be added as an update post-launch.
