Enthusiasts of foldable smartphones and OnePlus smartphones rejoice! If you want your favorite smartphone manufacturer – OnePlus – to launch its own version of a foldable smartphone – the time has finally arrived.
OnePlus is all set to launch its first foldable smartphone – the OnePlus Open – this Thursday, October 19, 2023. It will directly compete with foldable giants like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, Pixel Fold, and the Moto Razr with its competitive price tag of $1,699.
Regarding its design, from the image leaks I have seen so far, it’s clearly inspired by the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Oppo Find N2. It features the narrow aspect ratio of the former while also having the broader screen of the latter. However, both of these have been enhanced by OnePlus’s own twist to the design.
The screen will have a size of 7.8” diagonally, with a big 6.3” cover display. The main screen will have a 2k resolution with a fluid 120Hz refresh rate. It will also sport a brightness of 2,800 Nits – far brighter than the 1,450 Nits of the Google Pixel Fold.
The back of the OnePlus Open has a faux leather texture and has a similar circular camera style to the OnePlus 11 and the OnePlus Pad. Regarding its camera, this foldable smartphone will have a 48MP main camera with a 64MP 3x periscope camera.
